Ricky (Rick) Glen Hovden, age 68, of Oronoco, Minn., (formerly Spring Valley, Minn.) passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024.
Rick, along with his 10-minute older twin sister, Ronda, was born September 6, 1957, in Spring Valley, Minn., to Emmeth (Bud) and Gwenlyn (Miland) Hovden. He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1976 and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science from Mankato State University in 1981. He married Carol (Rippentrop) Vreeman and were later divorced.
Rick loved photography and started his business with Carol, Hovden Photography in Spring Valley, Minn. Because of health reasons, he later retired.
He is survived by his brother Larry (Lynette) Hovden of Owatonna, Minn.; Roxanne (Brent) Hellickson of Pine Island, Minn.; his nephews Joshua (Jodi) Hovden, Gabriel (Crystal) Hovden, Jacob (Lisa) Hovden, Adam (Sara) Hovden, Justin (Erin) Hellickson and Jason (Erica) Steinkamp; his nieces Sammy Hovden, Jennifer (Jason) Jordan, Mikaylah (Devin) Pokorney, Jodi (Shawn) Mahon, Annie Steinkamp, and Rosilyn (Violet) Steinkamp; his many nieces and nephews: Kaleb Hellickson, Makenli Jordan, Klara Jordan, Eliana Hellickson, Camden Hellickson and Luca Pokorney. He also has a stepson, Brad (Jennifer) Vreeman from his previous marriage. He is also survived by two aunts – Dana Loy of Rochester and Donna Miland of Belmond, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Sonja Hovden, Kermit Hovden, Ronda (his twin) Steinkamp and Robbin Hovden; his brother-in-law Jerry Steinkamp, and many aunts and uncles.
Rick, the brother we knew and loved growing up was quiet, kind, smart and fun. We will miss him very much!
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, Minn., with Pastor Mamy officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will take place at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Spring Valley, Minn.
