Fillmore County Journal - Romona Trende Obituary

Ramona Trende, age 87, of Preston, Minn., died February 11, 2017 at Green Lea Manor in Mabel, Minn.

Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Granger, Minn.  Burial took place in Big Springs Cemetery rural Harmony, Minn.  Visitation was be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2017, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home (formerly Thauwald Funeral Home) Preston, Minn., and will continue for an hour prior to the service at the church.

Ramona Viola Marzolf was born January 12, 1930 in Preston, Minn., to Arnold and Viola (Dahl) Marzolf. She attended Preston Schools and was united in marriage to William Robert “Billy” Trende on February 6, 1947 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Big Springs. Ramona was a homemaker and also worked as a cook at the Victory Café in Preston, Minn. She enjoyed baking and was known for her cinnamon rolls, graham pies, canned peaches, apples and ground cherries. She liked listening to music and reading and also enjoyed sewing and embroidery and was able to make quilts for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ramona was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran in Big Springs until it closed, where she was active in the circle and ladies aid.

She is survived by her children: Becky (Jim) Lomen of Waukon, Iowa, and their children Denise (Mark) Herman, Dawn Schulte and Hollee (Mike) McCormick; Larry (Linda) Trende of Cresco, Iowa, and their children Larry (Diane) Trende and Robert Trende, Mike (Cyrilla) Trende of Preston, Minn.; Bonnie (Bill) Carman of Green Bay, Wis., and their children Karri (Curtis) Wykle and Bobby (Tiffany) Carman; Sue (David) Gilbertson of Hayfield, Minn., and their children Dennis, Caleb, and Sara Gilbertson; and grandson Paul Trende. Fifteen great-grandchildren, a sister, Elaine Hellickson of Preston, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1984, son David in 2013, daughter Marilyn in 1992, and a brother, Bruce Marzolf.
