Priscilla Wegner

December 7, 2020 by Fillmore County Journal

Priscilla Wegner obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Our beloved mother, Priscilla Wegner, surrounded by family and escorted by angels, was called home by the Lord on December 1, 2020, at the age of 92 years.  Born on December 4, 1927 in Preston, Minn. Priscilla Ann Johnson was the youngest of four children.  Her parents were Hiram and Mary (Truesdell) Johnson.  Priscilla grew up in the small town of Fountain, Minn., where her father was a banker and her mother a teacher/homemaker.  She graduated from Preston High School and continued her education at the University of Minnesota and the Kahler School of Nursing, where she received her degree as a registered nurse.

Priscilla lived and worked in the Twin Cities area for many years, moving 12 times before settling in 1965 in Taylors Falls, Minn., at the family home of her maternal grandparents.  She loved the history and beauty of the area, and knew this was truly home.  Priscilla’s “Truesdell” house was always bustling with    family and friends (including some “adopted” extra kids) and everyone was welcome.  Her second home on Deer Lake was an added blessing, as it brought many joys, memories and new friends. Priscilla was an amazing cook who loved to experiment with gourmet recipes when entertaining, but also appreciated a White Castle or Big Mac hamburger!  She had an artistic eye when it came to decorating and fashion. The heart was her symbol and could be found in places all around her home.  She loved to shop.  She loved to laugh. She loved animals. She was comforted in her later years by her loyal dog Mandy and Pete the canary.

Priscilla enjoyed being a nurse and worked for many years as a head nurse at the St Croix Clinic.  After retiring she remained    active in her community as a hospital volunteer, a member of Civic League, Historical Society and Library Board.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Taylors Falls.

Priscilla can be remembered for her devotion to her family.  She leaves six daughters: Kerry Jill Swenson (Wayne), Lesli Jeanne Johnson (Lyle), Wendy Jo Suddard-Bangsund (Ken), Jody Lee Carlson (Bryan), Tracy Elizabeth Heaps (Darryl), and Julie Ann Larson (Gunnar); 24 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Priscilla taught her daughters values, strength, resilience and    independence.  But most of all she taught them about love.

She will be missed and forever in our hearts.

She is preceded in death by her parents Hiram and Mary      Johnson, siblings Betty, Hiram Jr., and Charles Johnson, her first husband Dr. Alan Suddard, her second husband Dr. Marwood Wegner, and dear friends and family.

A private graveside service and burial in Chatfield Cemetery in Chatfield, Minn., are planned for the spring. The family hopes for a celebration of Priscilla’s life at a later date.
