Philip Schultz obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Philip A. Schultz, age 93, of Remer, Minn., passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital, Grand Rapids, Minn.

Philip was born in 1928, one of 16 children, to Richard and Pauline (Bender) Schultz in Preston, Minn. Phil grew up on the Schultz family farm in Preston, Minn. After school, Philip was drafted into the United States Army to serve in the Korean Conflict. Honorably discharged, Philip went to Dunwoody Institute for auto mechanic studies. On May 9, 1964, Philip and Virginia “Ginny” Garvais were united in marriage. Philip and Ginny started visiting Longville, Minn., in 1974 and built their home in 1979. He retired from the USPS in 1984 and moved to Lake Inguadona.

Philip was a very determined man. He enjoyed working on projects and building things. He loved to fish, garden, and spend time with his family, especially the grandchildren, and dogs. Philip also served on the Inguadona Township board for many years.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Florence, Walter, Julises, Paul, Arthur, Ann, Otto, Carl, Pauline, Clarence, Leona, Richard, Bernice, and Margaret.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ginny; sons James “Jim” (Stacy), Eric, and Alan (Karinn) Schultz; brother Kenneth, and grandchildren Nathan, Madilyn, Emily, and Christina.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, Remer, Minn., followed by the 2 p.m. funeral service. Burial will be at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Longville, Minn., with full military honors.
