Pauline Keefe obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Pauline Janet Keefe, age 98, of Chatfield, passed away at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield on December 29, 2025.

She married Clement Keefe on September 30, 1944. Together they raised a family of eight children. Pauline was a dedicated homemaker until her children were gone from home. She then worked at Mayo Clinic as a lab technician for many years. She enjoyed family gatherings, reading, crossword puzzles, her flowers, feeding the birds, and watching Jeopardy. She enjoyed traveling to her husband’s Navy reunions, and they also enjoyed going to jazz concerts. She was the oldest living member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 6913, which she joined in 1968. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and its Altar Society. She was active as a 4-H leader for many years.

Pauline is lovingly remembered by her children: Janet (Terry) Bestor, Jim (Sharon) Keefe, Cathy (Dan) Fieck, Carol (Jerry) Burgr, Maureen LaPlante, Matt Keefe and Mike (Chris) Keefe; five sisters and many other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, one grandson, one son-in-law, one daughter-in-law and seven siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chatfield,

Pauline’s family will receive relatives and friends from 10-11 a.m. at the church on Tuesday,

Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tate Bestor, Garrett Keefe, Brendan Keefe, Brian LaPlante, Greg LaPlante, Brad LaPlante, Steve LaPlante and Jeff LaPlante.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pauline’s name are appreciated.
