Paula Betten Obituary - Fillmore County Journal

Paula’s unexpected passing on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the age of 54, leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her.

Born on August 22, 1969, Paula was embraced into the loving arms of Allan and Diane Betten as an older child. Her formative years were spent on their family farm, where she enthusiastically participated in chores and became skilled at milking cows. Her deep affection for her parents and her cherished friendships in Rushford defined her early years.

In 1988, Paula graduated from Rushford High School before relocating to Caledonia, Minn. There, she dedicated 36 years of her life to Woodland Industries, forming enduring bonds with coworkers who became lifelong friends. Paula’s genuine warmth endeared her to everyone she encountered, making her a beloved figure in the community. She cherished her weekly gatherings with friends at Jesus Cares, demonstrating her commitment to nurturing relationships.

Paula’s sociable nature meant that she never hesitated to strike up a conversation with anyone, leaving an indelible mark on the town of Caledonia. Her absence will be keenly felt by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her.

Paula is survived by her foster family: Paul and Nel Rommes, Melissa and Shawn Bauer, Alivia and Gavin Cordes, Elizabeth and Joe Taylor, along with their children Meadow, Brecken, and Brynleigh; and Andrew and Anna Rommes. She is also survived by her sister Ronda Bietz, brother-in-law Dave Bietz, and nephews Nicholas and Lucas Bietz. Additionally, she is mourned by her biological mother, Crystal Dye (Ben), and the Pruka and Kittleson families, as well as her special friend, Jerry Kurtz.

Paula was preceded in death by her loving parents, Allan and Diane Betten, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness that will endure in the hearts of those she touched.

A memorial service will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Caledonia, Minn., at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Hoff Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  www.hofffuneral.com.
