Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Patricia Jean Meighen, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, at Wildwood Grove Assisted Living in LeRoy Minn.
Pat was born to O. Jay and Isabel Blake on October 15, 1933, in Milwaukee, Wis.
Until her move to LeRoy, Pat lived for 30-plus years in her dream home just outside of Forestville State Park atop a cliff overlooking the root river. Pat was affectionately known by her family as The Queen of Forestville. She loved walking in the woods, watching the seasons change, creating art in her basement studio, feeding the birds and squirrels, and entertaining friends and neighbors. Pat was also an amazing cook and baker. Some of her specialties included chicken tetrazzini, pork chops and rice, sloppy joes, deviled eggs and popovers. During the Christmas season, she could be found whipping up her famous chocolate yule log and dozens of beautifully decorated sugar cookies.
Pat loved to laugh. Her sharp wit and sassy personality will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by parents O. Jay and Isabel Blake, sisters Margaret Martin and Mary Jo Soltau, and brother Robert Blake.
Survived by daughter Barb O’Meehan (Jen Brown), son Blake Meighen (Laurie), daughter #2 Marianne Shumaker (Gordie), son #2 George Tinsley (Lisa), beloved grandchildren LaVonne (Myles), Clay (Colleen), Tom (Jaimee), Grace (Hudson), Paige, and Aaliyah; and great-grandchildren George, Noah and Adeline.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Wildwood Grove for their kindness and great care. Thanks too, to Heather, Dez, Emery, and the rest of the incredible staff of St. Croix Hospice. Their warmth, generosity, and compassion made all the difference.
Pat will be buried in a private graveside ceremony.
