Fillmore County Journal - Orville Jensen Obituary

Orville D. Jensen, 85, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester Minn. Orville was born on April 24, 1935, to Otis and Mabel (Olson) Jensen in Kiester, Minn.

Orville attended Austin High School. His early years were spent working on the family farm and woodworking. He built his own home in Brownsdale, Minn. He was very musical, playing the accordion, piano and guitar.

He was united in marriage to Betty Lou Jones on May 17, 1954, in Sioux Falls, S.Dak. They made their home in Brownsdale, Minn., until 1959, when they moved to rural Preston, where they raised their family. Orville was a hard-working farmer and carpenter, constructing buildings in Rochester and the Austin area.

Orville enjoyed music, once being in a small town band, and he would perform with his accordion at various local events and local nursing homes.

He is survived by his children Pam (Rod) Nelson, Chatfield, Karen Jensen, Rochester, Duane Jensen, Preston, Angela Jensen (John Cordes), Wanamingo, and Julie Jensen, Cannon Falls; and sister-in-law Carol (Gary) Lingbeck, Rochester; brothers Gaylord and Harold of Brownsdale and Wallace of Centerville; grandchildren Jeff Junge, Luke Junge, Jeremy Jensen, April Jensen, Nicolle Jensen, Tyler Nelson, Lindsey Nelson, Jesse Meyer, Shane Meyer, and Clayton Romanoski; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Lou (2014), daughter Carol Ann (2015) and brothers Merwin and Roger.
