Since 2010, the Fillmore County Journal team has worked in collaboration with Brad Hoiness, the owner of Harmony Foods, Preston Foods, and Rushford Foods, and his team at the grocery stores, to publish a cookbook titled Tasty Temptations.
All of the cookbooks we’ve published can be found on our website at http://fillmorecountyjournal.com/tasty-temptations-cookbooks/
From the beginning, we strived to make this an engaging experience. We have so many great cooks in the region, and we wanted to encourage people to share their prized recipes with others.
Part of that sharing experience came in the form of a cooking contest. I looked back through our most recent cookbooks, and we haven’t hosted an in-person cooking contest since October 26, 2019, prior to the pandemic.
Well, we’re back to an in-person event again for 2022.
This year’s event will be hosted at Preston Foods in Preston, Minn. Collectively, there will be a total of $630 in gift cards presented to first, second and third place winners in nine different categories. Full details for the cooking contest are included in today’s newspaper.
The event will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022. Recipes are due at the Fillmore County Journal offices in Preston by Friday, October 14, 2022. Even if you aren’t planning to participate in the cooking contest, you can still have your recipes featured in the cookbook. We would just need those recipes submitted to our office by October 14, 2022, as well.
Since the cooking contest can boast as many as 90 recipes offered for taste testing, we will be looking for tasting judges. If you would like to be a judge for the cooking contest held at Preston Foods from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022, please contact me at jason@fillmorecountyjournal.com or (507) 765-2151.
For prospective judges, it’s a great way to find out in advance of the holidays what recipes you might want to share with your friends and family.
For those of you looking forward to the 2022 Tasty Temptations cookbook, a copy of the cookbook will be inserted in the Monday, November 14, 2022, issue of the Fillmore County Journal.
And, lastly, for those businesses wishing to advertise in this timeless publication, referenced for years to come, the advertising deadline is Friday, October 21, 2022.
As I’ve said before, so much food, so little time.
