Chatfield Public Schools
Special School Board Meeting

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the special meeting of the School Board of Independent School District No. 227, Olmsted, Fillmore, and Winona Counties was held on Monday, December 21, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. Others Present: Ed Harris, Randy Paulson, Shane McBroom, Dan Schindler. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. and opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call was taken with the following members present Jeffers, Isensee, Priebe, Lowrey, Thompson, McMahon
Action/Discussion
The special meting was called to consider administrative recommendations regarding upcoming learning plan transitions and winter sports.
Mr. Harris open the discussion by reviewing highlights of the new Governors order and local case rate data. He also summarized the DCPT discussion earlier in the day where members contemplated the return to in person at the elementary and hybrid at the high school as well as the start of winter sports and association activities on January 4.
Mr. Paulson, Mr. McBroom, and Mr. Schindler added commentary about program level discussions and possible plans for learning plan transitions at semester break.
Motion by McMahon, 2nd by Priebe to support the administrative recommendation to “preapprove” learning model transition planning aimed at semester break pending a positive review of school case data at the DCPT/FCPH “consult” meeting on January 4. Further discussion ensued. Motion passed 6-0.
Motion by Thompson, 2 by Priebe to support the administrative recommendation to begin 7-12 winter sports and facility access to local associations on January 4. In addition, approving the 3RC recommendation that there be no spectators at contests during the month of January. Further discussion ensued. Motion passed 6-0.
Adjournment
Motion to adjourn by Isensee, 2nd by Thompson. No discussion, Motion passed 6-0.
