Fillmore County Journal, Norma Bangs obituary

Norma  Bangs, age 102, of Mabel, Minn., died peacefully Friday, August 24, 2018, at Green Lea Senior Living in Mabel, Minn.

Norma was born August 12, 1916, in Amherst Township, Fillmore County, Minn., to Isaac and Anna (Thompson) Vickerman.  She attended school in Prosper.  On August 12, 1935, she married Maloy Bangs, Sr.  In 1949 they moved to the Newburg area, where they raised six children and she had resided until last January.  She was a member of the Henrytown Lutheran Church and WELCA and enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning vegetables and fruits, and cooking.

Norma is survived by four children: Janice (Wally) Beuch of Menahga, Minn., Larry (Phyllis) Bangs of Mabel, Linda Benson of Decorah, Iowa, and Julie Bangs of Mabel; daughter-in-law Judith Bangs of Farmington, Minn.; 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Maloy Bangs, Sr.; two sons: Maloy, Jr. and Jerome, a grandson, Shad Bangs; great-granddaughter Taylor Johnson, and brothers and sisters Irvin, Arthur, Leland, Lillian, Elsie, and Gladys.

Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday, August 27, at the Henrytown Lutheran Church in rural Canton, with the Rev. Dean Safe officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation was 4-6 p.m. Sunday, August 26 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel.
