Myron Albert Schmidt, from Wykoff, Minn., passed away on October 28, 2023.
Myron was born January 12, 1944, to Louis and Iona (Affeldt) Schmidt. Myron grew up on the family farm and went to country school at the Jordan stone school house and later graduated from Wykoff with the Class of ‘62.
He continued to live on the home farm until his death. Myron was an avid cribbage player and won several tournaments. He was ranked in the top 100 in the U.S. and got a perfect cribbage hand of 29 points.
Myron loved history and knew it well. He also loved to travel, the game of softball, old time music and the old country hits. He also enjoyed watching a great western film.
Myron always had a good story to tell. He worked for his nephews Bob and Craig, for 35-plus years.
Myron is survived by his children Sheri, Jodi, Doug and Jennifer; stepchildren Jim and Jackie, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Allen (Betty), Harlan (Dee), sister Marion and sister-in-law Sharon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Loren.
Myron will be sadly missed.
Funeral services for Myron will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wykoff, with Pastor Kay Wold officiating. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Wykoff. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran on Wednesday, November 1 and will continue from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery Fund or the Wykoff Historical Society.
