REGULAR MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT #239
The regular meeting of the Rushford-Peterson School District #239 was called to order by Chairperson Chris Grindland at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 19, 2021.
Members Present: Chris Grindland, Matt Helgemoe, Joyce Iverson, Jeff Michel, Bonnie Prinsen, Ken Sawle, and Amy Woxland.
Administration Present: Superintendent Jon Thompson, Jake Timm and Angela Shepard
District Office Personnel: Toni Oian
Motion by Michel, seconded by Prinsen to adopt the agenda adding Item G. 2 to the consent agenda, hire of Elizabeth Landherr, K-3 Music Teacher. Motion carried unanimously.
There were no public comments.
Motion by Sawle, seconded by Michel to approve the following consent agenda items: March 15, 2021
Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes, adding “Bonnie Prinsen” to “Resolution Filling School Board Vacancy by Appointment of Bonnie Prinsen”; April hand payables, wires & payroll liabilities in the amount of $316,411.48; April payroll in the amount of $315,710.33; April board bills in the amount of $158,158.87; Fund Summary Reports; Personnel: Resignation of Amanda Miller –Community Education Administrative Assistant, Hire of Elizabeth Landherr – Elementary Music Teacher. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Iverson, seconded by Helgemoe to approve the second reading and adopt the following policies: #201 – Legal Status of the School Board, #203 – Operation of the School Board – Governing Rules, #203.1 School Board Procedures, Rules of Order, #203.2 – Order of the Regular School Board Meeting, #203.5 – School Board Meeting Agenda and #203.6 – Consent Agendas. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Prinsen, seconded by Iverson to approve the first reading of the following policies: #204 – School Board Meeting Minutes, #206 – Public Participation in School Board Meetings and Data Privacy Considerations, #207 – Public Hearings, #211 – Criminal or Civil Action Against School District, School Board Member, Employee or Student, #213 – School Board Committees. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Woxland, second by Sawle to approve the Leave of Absence for Kim King – EL Teacher/Coordinator for the 2021-2022 school year. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Woxland, second by Helgemoe to approve the Rushford-Peterson Class of 2021 Graduates. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Prinsen, second by Michel to approve the purchase of trailer. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Michel, second by Sawle to approve the changes to the 2021 Committee Assignments. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Michel, second by Iverson to table the approval of the Superintendent Contract Revision/Extension, more information is needed. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Iverson, second by Prinsen to approve budget cuts presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Superintendent Thompson presented the Superintendent’s report.
The Community Education Report, the Elementary Report, the Middle School /High Schools Report and the Activities Report were reviewed.
