MINUTES

REGULAR MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD

INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT #239

The regular meeting of the Rushford-Peterson School District #239 was called to order by Chairperson John Linder at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2020 virtually via Zoom.   

Members Present: Chris Grindland, Joyce Iverson, John Linder, Jeff Michel, Bonnie Prinsen & Kathy Wade

Administration Present:  Superintendent Jon Thompson, Jake Timm, Angela Shepard and Lisa Lawston

Activities Director: John Loney

District Office Personnel: Laura Hahn and Toni Oian

Motion by Iverson, seconded by Michel to adopt the agenda.  Motion carried unanimously.

There were no public comments.

Valarie Howe joined the Zoom meeting at 5:32 p.m.

Jason Boynton of Smith Schafer & Associates presented the 2019-2020 Audit Report.

Motion by Iverson, seconded by Michel to approve the school year ending June 30, 2020 audit report.

Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Grindland, seconded by Michel to approve the following consent agenda items:  October 19, 2020 Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes; November 9, 2020 Emergency Meeting Minutes; November 13, 2020 – Special Meeting Minutes; October hand payables, wires & payroll liabilities in the amount of $358,261.57; October payroll in the amount of $270,185.30; November board bills in the amount of $207,652.66; Fund Summary Reports; Personnel: Resignation of Xavier Riser – Assistant Wrestling Coach, Hire of Brielle Rasmussen – Kids Club Supervisor. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Prinsen, seconded by Iverson to approve the second reading and adoption of the following policies: #620 – Credit for Learning, #722 – Public Data Requests and #903 – Visitors to School District Buildings and Sites. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Prinsen, seconded by Michel to approve the contract with Educational Support Personnel. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Grindland, second by Howe to approve the 2020-2021 Seniority List. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Prinsen seconded by Iverson to approve guidelines for determining learning model. Motion carried unanimously.

Superintendent Thompson presented the Superintendent’s report.

Lisa Lawston presented the Community Education report.

Angela Shepard presented the Elementary report.

Jake Tim presented the Middle School / High School report.

John Loney presented the Activities report.

INFORMATION:

Monday, December 21, 2020 – Regular Monthly Meeting – 5:30 p.m. in the Forum Room

Monday, December 21, 2020 – Truth-in-Taxation Meeting – 6:15 p.m. in the Forum Room

Motion by Wade, seconded by Michel, to adjourn the regular meeting at 6:40 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
