MINUTES REGULAR MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT #239

The regular meeting of the Rushford-Peterson School District #239 was called to order by Chairperson Chris Grindland at 6:00 p.m. on Monday September 19, 2022 in the Rushford-Peterson Schools Forum Room.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Members Present: Chris Grindland, Joyce Iverson, Jeff Michel, Ken Sawle, Carl Schollmeier and Amy Woxland

Members absent: Matt Helgemoe

Administration Present: Superintendent Ben Bernard and Angela Shepard

District Personnel: Laura Hahn and John Loney

Motion by Sawle, seconded by Michel to adopt the agenda with the following additions: Consent Agenda; Personnel; Hire of Katrina Grover – Paraprofessional and hire of Caitlin Speece – Paraprofessional; Change Board bills amount from $148,364.46 to $154,724.46. Motion carried unanimously.

There were no public comments.

Motion by Michel, seconded by Schollmeier to approve the following consent agenda items: August 15, 2022, Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes; Donation from the Booster Club in the amount of $2,594 for Volleyball uniforms and carts; August hand payables, wires & payroll liabilities in the amount of $348,152.26, August payroll in the amount of $274,590.59, September board bills in the amount of $154,724.46; PERSONNEL: Hires:  

Tavarra Ellison – Foodservice Assistant / Custodian, Sherrie Christianson – Foodservice Assistant, Tracy Knutson- Head Knowledge Bowl Coach, Meredith Johnson – Math Wizards Coach, Katrina Grover – Paraprofessional and Caitlin Speece – Paraprofessional; Resignations: Rod Morcomb – Custodian as of September 5, 2022, Tami Tinderholt – Elementary Title 1 Teacher and Hannah Pape – PROM Advisor. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Iverson, seconded by Michel to approve the certification of the proposed levy for 2022 payable in 2023. Set the levy rate at the maximum. Motion carried unanimously.

Superintendent Bernard presented the Superintendent’s report.

Angela Shepard presented the Elementary report.

The Middle School / High School and Community Education reports were reviewed.

John Loney presented the Activities report.

INFORMATION:

Regular Monthly Meetings beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Forum Room –October 17, November 21, December 19

Special meeting to canvass the school board election – Tuesday, November 15, 2022, 6:00 p.m. in the Forum Room.

sMotion by Michel, seconded by Schollmeier, to adjourn the regular meeting at 6:12 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
