MINUTES REGULAR MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT #239

The regular meeting of the Rushford-Peterson School District #239 was called to order by Chairperson Chris Grindland at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, in the Rushford-Peterson Schools Forum Room.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Members Present: Chris Grindland, Matt Helgemoe, Joyce Iverson, Jeff Michel, Ken Sawle, Carl Schollmeier and Amy Woxland

Members absent: none

Administration Present: Superintendent Jon Thompson, Angela Shepard and Jake Timm

District Personnel: Laura Hahn

Motion by Michel, seconded by Schollmeier to adopt the agenda with the following addition to new business; Approve the Targeted Services agreement with Hiawatha Valley Education District June 2022 – May 2023. Motion carried unanimously.

Public Comments: Linsey Meyer addressed the board regarding school lunches. 

Motion by Iverson, seconded by Michel to approve the following consent agenda items: March 29, 2022 Special Meeting Minutes, March 28, 2022 Special Meeting Minutes, March 21, 2022 Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes; Donations is the amount of $19,194.32, March hand payables, wires & payroll liabilities in the amount of $356,341.29, March payroll in the amount of $305,022.65, April board bills in the amount of $132,238.67, Fund Summary Reports; PERSONNEL: Hire of Patricia McAllister – Long-term sub for third grade – September 7, 2022 – October 19, 2022 and Resignation of Sarah Hundorf – District Office Administrative Assistant as of April 22, 2022.

 Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Woxland, seconded by Sawle to approve the R-P Class of 2022 Graduates. Motion carried unanimously.

Motion by Helgemoe, seconded by Woxland to approve the 2022-2024 Custodial Contract with MSEA (Minnesota School Employees Association).  Motion carried unanimously.

The following agenda item was tabled by Chairperson Grindland until the May 16, 2022 meeting: Approve the employment contract for Dr. Benjamin Bernard as Superintendent of Schools for the 2022-2025 school years.

Superintendent Thompson gave an overview of the new direction of the Community Education program.

Chairperson Grindland recognized Danielle Rasmussen and allowed public comment.

Danielle Rasmussen expressed concern to the board regarding communication from the activities department in regards to the rescheduling of events.

Motion by Woxland, seconded by Michel to approve the Targeted Services agreement with Hiawatha Valley Education District June 2022 – May 2023 Motion carried unanimously.

Superintendent Thompson presented the Superintendent’s report.

The Elementary Principal, MS/HS Principal, Activities reports and highlights from Community Education were all reviewed.

INFORMATION: 

Regular Monthly Meetings beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Forum Room –May 16, June 20, July 18

Motion by Michel, seconded by Iverson, to adjourn the regular meeting at 6:27 p.m.  Motion carried unanimously.
