McHugh, a 5-foot-10 guard/forward, was honored again as a senior after receiving Honorable Mention the previous winter as a junior. In her final season in a Lion uniform, the four-year letter winner averaged 9.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.8 steals during 18 conference games.

Hammel, a 5-9 freshman guard/forward, averaged 11.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.5 assists during conference action.

Lanesboro senior Kaci Ruen, for the second season, was chosen SEC Player of the Year, sharing that highest honor this year with senior Sydney Torgerson from Houston. Torgerson is the only four-time honoree while Grand Meadow senior Kendyl Queensland was selected for a third year.

Eight of the 15 First and Second Team selections were repeat honorees. Six girls were All-SEC for the second time; five others had received Honorable Mention in previous seasons, including McHugh.

West Division champion and section runner-up Grand Meadow led with four selections while East Division champion Lanesboro placed three on the honor team, which also included two players each from Kingsland and LeRoy-Ostrander.

There were nine seniors on the First and Second Teams along with two juniors, two sophomores and even two freshmen. Only Grand Meadow will return two with eligibility for 2024 along with one each for Lanesboro, Mabel-Canton, Kingsland and LeRoy-Ostrander.
