Maureen S. McMahon, 65, of Chatfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 23, at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.
Maureen Suzanne Idso was born March 15, 1957, in Rochester, Minn., to Wayne and Suzanne (Nicklay) Idso. She grew up on the family golf course and graduated from Chosen Valley High School. Maureen was married August 24, 1974, at St Bridget’s Catholic Church in Rochester to William (Bill) J. McMahon. Following their marriage, the couple lived, farmed, and raised their family in rural Chatfield before moving into the town of Chatfield.
Maureen was a homemaker and partner in the operation of their farm. She graduated from Rochester Vo-Tech in Rochester with a degree as a legal secretary. Maureen was employed at Lakeside Packing in Plainview for 25+ years until her retirement. Maureen also enjoyed working at her son’s golf course in St. Charles after her retirement.
Maureen enjoyed golfing, playing cards and bowling with friends, crafting with her sisters, gardening, traveling with Bill, supporting her kids and grandkids sports teams, and spending as much time as allowed with her family. She loved and was loved by her family.
Maureen is survived by her husband Bill, two sons, Matthew (Sara) McMahon of Chatfield and Mark (Dolores) McMahon of Missouri City, Tex.; five grandchildren: Tessa, Tobin, Trygg, Bree, and Hannah; two brothers, Ivan (Mary) Idso of Rochester and Eric (Karen) Idso of Stewartville; three sisters: Michele (Ken) Splittstoesser of St. Charles, Kersten (Gary) Danielson of Stewartville, and Sabrina Idso of Rochester; sisters-in-law Charlotte (James) Ryan and Nancy McMahon of Chatfield, and brother-in-law Richard Schindler .
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother Dwight, brother-in-law Thomas McMahon, and sister-in-law Ann Schindler.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Maureen Suzanne McMahon was held Monday, February 27, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chatfield, with Fr. Edward McGrath officiating. Visitation was on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and one hour before the service on Monday. Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery in Chatfield.
