Mathew C. Vreeman, 43, passed away unexpectedly June 4, 2020, on the family farm in rural Preston, Minn.
Mat was born May 21,1977, in Rochester, Minn., to Konnie E. Vreeman and Paula A. (Lockwood) Vreeman. He graduated from Kingsland High School in Spring Valley in 1995. Mat was united in marriage to Carrie D. Beckendorf on September 11, 2004, at Cherry Grove United Methodist Church and later divorced.
When Mat was younger he worked for Bob Keim Farms, O’Connell Excavating and T.D. Fetterly Building Company. For the past decade Mat was owner operator of Vreeman Crane Services. Mat was a proud American and was known for his vast collection of guns. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his four wheeler, wrenching on trucks, camping down at the creek, and hanging out with his friends and family sharing many stories. Mat was a good friend to all he came in contact with. He never liked seeing anyone sad and always had a kind word or joke to tell to bring a smile to their face. Mat will be deeply missed by all.
Mat is survived by his siblings Brenda (Dan) Klingsporn of Hayfield, Kris (Christine) Vreeman of Spring Valley, and Mandy (Keith) Bill of St. Francis, Kans.; 10 nieces and nephews: Allen, Shanda, Gabby, Elisabeth, Clayton (Makenna), Kaysie, Cortney, Kolton and Kody; and one great-nephew Oliver. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Konnie and Paula Vreeman, grandparents Kenneth and Johannah Vreeman and Richard and Phyllis Lockwood, and one uncle Terry Jacobson.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, June 19 at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Spring Valley from 4-7 p.m. Due to COVID-19, funeral services will be held outdoors on Saturday, June 20 at 2 p.m. at the family farm in rural Preston to accommodate social distancing restrictions.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
It is hard to see a former student pass away. I have nothing but great memories of Matt.
This is so sad.
