Marvin Lyle “Doc” Bushman, Sr., 82 of Chatfield, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 27, 2020, at home.
Doc was born November 5, 1938, in Chatfield, to John and Bonnie (Finley) Bushman. After buying a motorcycle and frequently driving the roads of Pleasant Grove trying to get the attention of a young girl named Dorothy “Dottie” Stailey, he finally won her over and they were married on December 29, 1962.
He served in the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Reserves from 1976-1978. Doc worked at Rochester Sand and Gravel as truck driver for over 30 years and also worked part-time as a farmer. He enjoyed golfing, motorcycling, snowmobiling, playing cards, tinkering on old cars in his body shop in the garage and listening to old country music.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Dottie of 57 years; his sons Marvin Jr. (Darla) Bushman and John Bushman (Cherie Holm); brothers and sisters Gene, Marjorie Cambern, Virginia Horman, Kenneth (Ruby), Larry (Doreen), Steve (Deb) and Dave (Wendy); grandchildren Morgan Bushman (Angel Ramirez Roja) and Alex and Abby Bushman; and a brother-in-law, Butch (Marlys) Stailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Floyd and Dorothy Stailey, daughter Jacqueline, sister-in-law Bev Bushman, and brothers-in-law Danny Cambern and Donald Horman.
A celebration of his life is being planned for this spring. Cards may be mailed to: Hoff Funeral Home, c/o Marvin Bushman Family, PO Box 576, St. Charles, Minn. 55972. Please share a memory of Doc and sign his online guestbook at www.hofffuneral.com.
Robert & Trudy Wager says
We met Marvin ( Doc) in 1974. We became friends with him and Dottie through friends of theirs. The Loren Barnes and the Horsemans. Although there were miles between us…Michigan. we were able to visit every few years. Always lots of laughs with Doc and family. RIP Doc. You will always be remembered by the Wager family.
