Martha Annette Felland passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026.
Martha was born April 16, 1947, in Preston, Minnesota, to Orel and Esther Felland and grew up on their farm in Granger, Minnesota. Growing up on the farm with her four siblings taught her the value of hard work. Some of her favorite memories are raising animals for 4-H, riding their horse Beauty, and enjoying her mother Esther’s cooking and baking. She attended school in Granger and later Harmony High School. She played softball on the Granger team as a pitcher with her sister Marian as the catcher. One of her proudest achievements was pitching a no-hitter. She graduated from Harmony High in 1965.
After high school Martha attended college at Mankato State and then the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. She began her career at Pillsbury and found a way to utilize her skills with numbers, planning, and working with people by becoming a project manager. After 20 years at Pillsbury and later Diageo, she worked at BI Worldwide until she retired.
In 1981 Martha became a mother when she had her son, Marc, and said becoming a mom was the greatest experience in her life. Martha and Marc both enjoyed traveling and took a long trip through the southwest to celebrate his graduation from college with an electrical engineering degree and both agreed it was an epic trip they would never forget. They were not just mother and son, but best friends too.
After retirement Martha stayed active in church. She loved gardening, traveling, and served as her townhome association’s president for a while and was very proud of the improvements they were able to make to the grounds during her tenure.
When she was diagnosed with cancer in 2020 Martha faced it with the same determination and positivity she brought to all aspects of her life. She was able to spend more time with her son Marc, siblings, family, and friends. Taking a vacation to Florida with her son Marc in 2024 was a highlight.
Martha is survived by her son Marc, sisters Sonja (Rolf) Brown and Marian Felland, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers James and Richard, and sister-in-law Beverly. There will be a celebration of life for Martha at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and later, an interment service at St. Matthew’s Church in Granger, Minnesota.
