Marleen E. Morken, 89, of Spring Grove, Minn., died Sunday, June 11, 2023, at the Stewartville Care Center.
Marleen was born December 12, 1933, in Spring Grove, to Martin and Gilma (Treangen) Dragvold. She attended different country and public schools before graduating from Houston High School. On October 29, 1955, she married George Morken at the Stone Church near Houston. They resided in Spring Grove. Marleen had worked at Worrall Hospital in Rochester, Control Data in Spring Grove, the Green Lea Manor in Mabel, Tweeten Care Center in Spring Grove, and then did home health care in the Spring Grove area.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. She and George were also members of the Old Style Auto Club. She enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, baking, trips to the casino, and garage sales.
Marleen is survived by her five children Nancy (Steve) Welper of Rochester, Minn., Laurie Peck of Jordan, Minn., Wayne of Jordan, Minn., Gary (Sue) of Mabel, Minn., and Lisa (Rod Foltz) of Cresco, Iowa; a sister, Lynda Gorder; 11 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband George, her parents, a brother, Gerald Dragvold; sisters Helen Valadez, Evelyn Jonak, and Charlotte LaBonne; a son-in-law, Robin Peck; and great-grandson Dylan Delaney.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 20, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 19, at the Trinity Lutheran Church and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in the State Veterans Cemetery in Preston on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Memorials are preferred to Seasons Hospice, 1696 Greenview Dr. SW, Rochester Minn., 55902. The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel is assisting with arrangements.
