Fillmore County Journal - Mark Berry Obituary

Memorial services for Mark R. Berry will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2019, at the United Methodist Church in Preston, with Pastor David Stoeger officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2019, at the Preston United Methodist Church and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.  Following services on Friday a celebration of life will be held at the Preston Servicemen’s Club from 3-5 p.m.

Mark Robert Berry, age 65, of Preston, Minn., died Monday, May 20, 2019, at his home in Preston. He was born December 8, 1954, in Preston to Robert and Jeanine (Hillestad) Berry and attended and graduated from Preston High School in 1972. Following graduation he attended college in Winona and Rochester for a short time.  Mark was united in marriage to Nancy Swenson on February 28, 1981, in Chatfield and together they had Mitchel and Mara. He served for 20 years on the Preston Fire Department and was employed by Curt’s Standard as a mechanic and then went to work at NAPA for many years. People throughout the area knew him as “NAPA Mark.” Mark loved taking drives through the countryside, camping, golfing, reading the paper, watching NASCAR and sports. He also enjoyed music, often being able to tell friends the name, band and year of almost any song played on the radio. Mark was also known to his close friends as “Be-Bop.”  He was a hardworking, genuine man who loved his family and was a GREAT dad and grandpa.

He is survived by his wife Nancy of Preston, Minn., children Mitchel (Brayonna) Berry of Chatfield and Mara (Tyler) Brown of Cannon Falls, Minn.; grandchildren Paisley Jo Berry, Sadie Jeanine Berry, and Tatum Jo Brown; one brother, Steve Berry of Preston; mother-in-law Neva Swenson and brother-in-law Don Swenson, both of Chatfield. He was preceded in death by his parents.
