Marjorie Scott, 99, a retired teacher, of Chatfield, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Chosen Valley Assisted Living in Chatfield.
Marjorie Roberta Anderson was born October 28, 1921, in Frankford Township, rural Spring Valley, Minn., to Elgar and Sadie (Loucks) Anderson. She attended various rural schools. Her family moved to Preston in 1937, and she graduated from Preston High School in 1939, and Preston Normal Training 1940. She taught in rural schools for seven years. On February 7, 1947, she married Russell L. Scott in Preston. They lived on the Scott farm in rural Chatfield. She returned to teaching in 1954, and taught for 38 years, the last 28 years were as a 1st grade teacher at Chatfield Elementary School. She received her bachelor degree in elementary education in 1962, and her master’s in 1970, from Winona State College.
Marjorie was a member of United Methodist Church in Chatfield, ADK, Elder Network, SEREAM, and the Order of Eastern Star. She was a life member of Retired Education Association of MN, and Chatfield and Fillmore County Historical Societies. She liked to garden and dance, but most of all just helping others.
Marjorie is survived by her son Stanley (Linda) of Rochester, two daughters, Mary (Larry) Grems of Spring Valley and Gail Lundquist of Maplewood; four granddaughters, and four great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Russell, one brother, and two sisters.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Chatfield Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the Chatfield Methodist Church or donor’s choice.
