Marjorie Laverne Bremseth, 99, of Fountain, passed away September 27, 2016 at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield.
Marjorie was born September 15, 1917 in Wykoff to William and Helen (Raddatz) Schmidt. She grew up in the Wykoff and Preston area. She graduated from Preston High School in 1936 and from Preston Normal Training (Teachers) in 1937. She taught rural school for four years.
She married Paul Miller on October 19, 1941 in Preston. They moved to Fountain and had three sons and two daughters. The couple later divorced. In June of 1956, she married Marvin Bremseth at Fountain. She than began operating the White Corner Cafe with her husband for the next 30 years. She retired in 1991.
She belonged to the Fountain Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and was active in WELCA for many years. She also belonged to the Fountain American Legion Auxiliary and The Neighbor Birthday Club. She liked to sew, knit, crochet, and read books. She also enjoyed raising flowers, especially roses.
Marjorie is lovingly remembered by her children: Robert (Dianna) Miller of West Fargo, Melvin “Herman” (Linda) Miller of Fountain, and Gary (Sharon) Miller of Fountain; 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 12 great great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sister-in-law Mildred Miller and brother and sister-in-law Neil and Joyce Bremseth.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Marvin in 2008, and daughter Carol Severson in 1997, daughter Nancy Weldon in 2013. She is also preceded in death by granddaughter Jody Severson and great-grandson T.J Severson.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2016 at Fountain Lutheran Church, with Rev. Grace Gravelle officiating. A committal service will follow at the Fountain Cemetery.
A time of visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church.
