Marion Simon obituary, Fillmore county Journal

Marion J. Simon, age 80, of Winona, Minn., formerly of Caledonia, Minn., passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on February 28, 2024.

Marion was born October 28, 1943, in Winona to Roderick and Kathrine (Kohner) Krenzke. She married Leo Simon on June 15, 1963. Marion worked as a nurse at Caledonia Nursing Home and Clinic, and also at Mayo Clinic in LaCrosse.

She loved to travel and enjoyed gardening, reading, playing Bridge and 500.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Caledonia, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Council of Catholic Women.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Leo; sons Bradford (Robin) Simon of Elba, Minn., and Trever (Christina) Simon of Fort Worth, Tex.; grandchildren Tanner, Connor, Matthew, Nicholas, Taylor and Ty; sisters Barbra Rain (Willard), Houston, Minn., JoAnne Block, Rochester, Minn.; a brother, Chuck Krenzke, St. Charles, Minn.; and brother-in-law Gerald (Donna Henkes) Simon of Altura, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Susan Anderson; brother-in-law Elmer Block; and sister-in-law Sheri Krenzke.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Friday, March 8, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Caledonia.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Holy Family Hall. Visitation will also be from 10-11 a.m. Friday before the service at the church.

Memorials are preferred to St. Mary’s Church or the Caledonia Wrestling Club.

McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia, is assisting the family.
