Marilyn J. Erickson, 81, of rural Lanesboro, passed away, Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the Harmony Care Center.

Marilyn was born August 7, 1943, in Austin, Minn., to Vern and Belva (Lee) Kirchner. She attended a one room school house and graduated from the Hayfield High School. She moved to California and attended business school. It was at Disneyland in 1965 where she would meet her future husband, Stephen Erickson, who was serving in the United States Marine Corps. On January 15, 1966, they were married in Vallejo, Calif. They remained in California until 1974 when they moved to Farmington, Minn.  Marilyn worked in a nursing home and later at Blue Cross Blue Shield until she retired.  In 2000, Marilyn and Stephen moved to the Lanesboro area.  Marilyn was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro and enjoyed cooking, sewing, camping, and putting together picture albums.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Stephen, two children, William J. (Mary) and Stephanie (Mike); grandchildren Lauren Grace Schumacher, Jacob Schumacher, Dylan Erickson and Faith Owen; brother-in-law Pastor Patrick (Judy) Erickson, and nieces Angie, Leona and Leah Kirchner.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Jimmy and Leon Kirchner.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, September 29 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro. Burial will be held at a later date in the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Preston.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
