Marie Mundfrom Bany obituary, Fillmore County Journal

A celebration of life service for Marie Mundfrom Bany will be held on August 8, 2021 at 2 p.m. She died December 21, 2020. The service will be at Saetersdal Lutheran Church where she was confirmed. 

Marie Bertha Mundfrom was born to Edward W. and Amanda Mundfrom on July 3, 1927, and she was raised on the family farm near Cherry Grove, Minn. The Red School, a one room country school, was her first educational experience and she went on to graduate from Wykoff High School in 1945. She worked her way through college and graduated from Luther College in 1952.

Marie taught at schools in Chester, Iowa, Decorah, Iowa area and Winona, Minn. She then felt a call to become a missionary and served  15 years in Africa. Upon returning home she was a social worker in Colorado.

Marie married Theodore Bany in 1994 and was his constant companion until his death in 2005. Shortly after his death Marie moved to assisted living and entered Ostrander Care and Rehab in 2008. 

She is survived by her brother Fred (Dorothy) Mundfrom of Spring Valley and 17 nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Gerald Mundfrom and Edward L. Mundfrom, sisters Ruby Jones, Wilma Tallerday and Emma Larson. 

Burial will be in the church cemetery.
