Margaret Doloris (Gaustad) Anderson

February 21, 2023 by Fillmore County Journal

Margaret (Gaustad) Anderson obituary, Fillmore County Journal

On February 17, 2023, Margaret Doloris (Gaustad) Anderson made her transition to Heaven while at Valley View Healthcare in Houston. Within three weeks she suffered a stroke which was followed by the onset of COVID-19.

Margaret was born on March 24 1930, to Peter and Senell (Gundersen) Gaustad. In 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Anderson. They celebrated 56 years of marriage together, along with two children, Jenell “Jill” and Peter.

After attending country schools in Mound Prairie and Twin Ridge, she graduated from Houston High School in 1948. Upon graduating she attended college at Miss Woods Academy (Twin Cities) and Winona State University, graduating with a degree in elementary education.

Before retiring in 1980, Margaret’s tenure as an elementary educator had taken her from Kenyon, Minn., to Rushford and Houston.

Outside of the love of her family and her professional career, Margaret dedicated her time as a women’s leader at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church and the township board of Houston. As a talented quilting artist and teacher ,she introduced many into the world of quilting.

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Robert (2008), parents Senell and Peter, stepmother Florence Gaustad, brothers and sisters-in-law Lloyd (Violet), Russell (Artis), and Ken (Jann).

She is survived by her children Jill (Steve) Zmyewski and Peter (Barbara); grandchildren Kristina (Joe), Justin (Robyn), Andrew (Rebecca); great-grandchildren Wyatt, Will, Lucy and Gabriella; brother in-law Sigurd (Elsiemae) along with several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A celebration of Margaret’s life is scheduled on her birthday at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 24.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in Houston is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Please leave a memory of Margaret and sign her online guestbook at www.hofffuneral.com.
