Mallory Jefferis obituary, Fillmore county Journal

Mallory B. Jefferis, age 84 of Chatfield, passed away at the Chosen Valley Care Center on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Mallory Bolton was born on March 5, 1940, the son of Robert and Ruth (Bolton) Jefferis in Chatfield. He attended Chatfield area schools and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1958. 

Mallory entered the United States Army following graduation and served for 20 years in Vietnam, Korea, Germany and Hawaii. He was honorably discharged on May 31, 1979. Mallory and Christel Molter were married in Germany in March 1964. He worked in manufacturing for Synthes USA as a safety director and manager from 1981-2006. Following his retirement, he attended college and acquired an associate’s degree. 

Mallory was a proud member of the VFW and Legion, was an amateur (Ham) radio volunteer in Colorado Springs for 23 years. 

Mallory is survived by his twin sister Marlene (Glenn) Hisey of Chatfield, sisters Roberta Copemen of Chatfield and Judith Stites of Chatfield, brother Michael Jefferis of Minneapolis, 14 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Christel Molter Jefferis and his daughter Margaret Jefferis, his sister Mary Ellen Barth in 2012, brother C. Thomas Jefferis in 2009 and brother-in-law Rodney Copeman in 2015. 

A celebration of Mallory’s life will take place on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church of Chatfield. There will be one hour of visitation at the church prior to services.

Burial will take place in Chatfield City Cemetery in the Spring.  Military rites will be performed by the American Legion and VFW Posts of Chatfield.
