Madge Danielson obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Madge Danielson, age 90 of Stewartville (formerly of Chatfield), passed away surrounded by her family at the Stewartville Care Center on Sunday, January 26, 2025.

Madge Alta Danielson was born on the family farm outside of Chatfield the daughter of William Wesley and Eleanor (Crowson) Buchanan on September 7, 1934.

She attended school in the Chatfield area. She was united in marriage to Gerald Curtis Danielson on November 28, 1953, at Chatfield Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Lanesboro until they made their home in Chatfield. Madge and Gerald worked side by side as custodians for Chatfield Lutheran Church for over 30 years as well as the Root River State Bank of Chatfield and First State Bank of Fountain. Madge was a member of Chatfield Lutheran Church and the parish ELCA.

Madge loved her family and any gathering that they planned. She loved country music and a good barn dance. She sewed and loved sharing art/painting with her children and grandchildren. She had an excellent memory, knowing each birthday in the family. She loved to travel and go new places and could always find someone in the family who would grant her wishes for an outing and enjoyed a cold beverage. She lived with her son and family for many years prior to entering the nursing home.

She will be missed by her seven children: Craig (Cindy) Danielson, Wayne (BJ) Danielson, Charlene (Rick) Lutzi, Diane (Ron) Soukup, Gary (Kersten) Danielson, Rodney (Jody) Danielson and Brenda (Galen) Thompson; 28 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by her sister Marie Bakken, sisters-in-law LaDonna Danielson, Mary Danielson, Pam Danielson and Jan Crowson; brothers-in-law Richard (Dick) Hart and Danny Schoeppner, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald on October 6, 2008; her daughter Debby Danielson on September 28, 1963; and brother Daryl Crowson, sisters-in-law Betty Connelly, Donna Hart and Lavonne Schoeppner; and brothers-in-law Harold Bakken, Arlie, Clair, Lavern, Duane and and Darrell Danielson.

Funeral services for Madge will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Chatfield Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Hauschild officiating.

Visitation will be held at Chatfield Lutheran Church on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. and again at the church one hour prior to services.

Burial will be held at the Chatfield Cemetery.

Hoff Funeral Home of Chatfield is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences and memories can be left for the family at www.hofffuneral.com.
