Lucille Janette (Olson) Nehring

Lucille Janette (Olson) Nehring, age 83, of Maple Grove, previously of Preston and Medina, passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2017.

She is preceded in death by husband, Dr. John Nehring, and parents, Ludwig and Marie Olson. She will be deeply missed by her children, Steve Allen (Trish), John Allen (Tamara Lorentz), Jeff Allen (Ann), Amy Kappler (Jonathan); their father, Wayne; grandchildren: Seth, Ashley, Amanda, Lukas, Jennifer, David, Benjamin, Cassandra, Nicholas, and Alexander; great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Archer, Ari, Zoe, Colette, Temperance, Sarah, Henry, Lily; sister Ruth Elaine Monhardt (Maurice); niece Joelle, nephews: Noel, Jonathan, and Leigh; step children: Mike Nehring (Jennifer), Kay Flynn (Scott); their children: Kristi, Jessie, Jenna, Ryan, Kyle, and Scott; their grandchildren: Kamari, Trinity, Cadence;  and many dear friends from Preston.

Lucille was born on March 10, 1934, in Duluth, Minn. She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1952, attended St. Olaf College, and completed her master’s degree in education at the University of Minnesota. She taught language arts and social studies at Orono Middle School in Long Lake and continued after retirement as a substitute in Preston. She shared her passion for music with many piano students, including her children, grandchildren and even her great-grandchildren. Lucille was active in her church homes; her ministries included playing organ at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Lake, directing the bell choir at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, and being a faithful parishioner at Maple Grove Lutheran Church. Her favorite pastimes included Red Hats, book club, traveling, camping, sewing, gardening, baking, and a variety of stitching projects. Lucille was a true disciple; she followed Jesus with heartfelt joy. She worshipped as a faithful servant and witness to His promise and now is with Him in Heaven.

Celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. May 27 at Christ Lutheran Church, Preston, Minn., with private internment at Crown Hill Cemetery in Preston, Minn. to follow.
