Lucas “Luke” Lee Campbell, age 32, while living his dream in California, passed away Monday, February 15, 2021, due to complications of melanoma cancer, which had spread to his lungs and brain.
He was born on February, 2, 1989, in St. Paul, Minn., to Jeffrey Lee Campbell and Lori Louise (Harstad) Campbell. In fifth grade, Luke and family moved to the New London/Spicer, Minn., area and he graduated in the class of 2007. Luke attended North Dakota State University for a number of years before pursuing other interests. He returned to the Twin Cities area in 2015 and was employed in sales with Verizon and finally, State Farm Insurance. Luke completed a bachelor’s degree in 2019 from Metropolitan State College in St. Paul.
In the winter of 2015, Luke met the love of his life, Natalie Jo Wesner. They lived in Apple Valley and married on September 24, 2020, in Bloomington, Minn., with Jason and Ashley Bengtson attending and Melissa Sauer of Apple Valley, Minn., officiating.
Luke enjoyed sports, with a special love of hockey and mentoring Madox in the sport. Luke also loved his friends and family by getting everyone together and making you laugh. He was greatly respected for a wonderful, creative mind and a resource for information, especially in technology and sports. As much as Luke loved sports, his greatest passion was simply spending time together with Natalie and Madox.
Luke is survived by his parents Jeffrey and Lori, his wife Natalie, son Madox, his sister Marissa (fiancé Nathaniel), and nephew Keelen; maternal grandmother Miriam Harstad and paternal grandmother Phyllis Vinje, plus lots of aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by grandfathers Harold Harstad and Bruce Vinje, and uncle Eric Ostrom.
A celebration of Lucas’s life will be held this summer in the New London/Spicer area.
