The Spring Grove girls had a season-high six hits during a 12-5 road loss to undefeated Houston on May 4. Lydia Solum batted 1 for 3 with two runs batted in while Addyson McHugh and Katelyn Kraus went 1 for 3 with an RBI. The five singles all came from five different Lions, including Maggie Lile and Sydney Holland.

The only charity Spring Grove received was one Hurricane error. Houston pitchers Lilly Carr and Emily Botcher were exceptionally efficient while combining to walk no one while striking out 11.

The ‘Canes scored 12 runs on eight hits while taking advantage of nine free passes (seven walks, two hit batters). Olivia Yohe batted 3 for 5 while belting a triple and a double. Botcher went 2 for 3 at the plate

The Lions were far more competitive against Houston in this rematch than when Carr tossed a one hitter in their previous meeting, a 13-1 Hurricane win. Houston (10-0) remained undefeated while Spring Grove (0-7) still seeks its first win.
