The Spring Grove boys wrapped up the outright SEC East Division championship while throttling visiting Mabel-Canton, 80-38. The state-ranked Lions (18-1, 15-1 SEC) handled the ball with only 7 turnovers, had a season-fewest 5 fouls and shot a hot 50% from the field overall, including a good 38% (12-32) from 3-point range.

The Cougars (10-11, 8-8 SEC) shot a so-so 39%, but with 24 turnovers, did not shoot often enough to stay with the league leader. The Lions dominated the glass to such an extent that Mabel-Canton had no offensive rebounds.

Four Lions scored in double figures with Ben Udstuen netting 18 points while Jacob Olerud and Elijah Solum each put in 16 points and distributed 5 assists. Jaxon Strinmoen added 10 points and Isaac Nerstad 9.  Udstuen and Strinmoen led rebounding with 6 caroms each. The Cougars received 10 points from Darian Hershberger.

Mabel-Canton never led but trailed only 21-20 before the Lions closed the first half with a 19-to-4 run that featured five straight 3-point baskets. Up 40-24 at halftime, Spring Grove made it a rout by scoring the first 21 points of the second half. The Lions scored on 10 of their first 14 possessions after intermission, including four straight fast-breaks and a trio of 3-point buckets.

The B-team improved to 13-2 with a 49-32 win. There was a junior high split with the Lions taking the seventh grade game and the Cougar eighth graders prevailing, 25-24.
