To the Editor,
Whatever your stand on immigration, there’s probably another aspect worth considering. I just finished reading the book “Milked,” by Ruth Conniff, which gave me a new perspective on the global economic forces affecting the Midwest farm bankruptcies and the contentious politics around immigration. What’s so captivating about the book is the stories. Stories from Trump voters and Biden voters. Stories from farmers and immigrants and furniture factory owners. Stories about politicians and activists on both sides of the bovine growth hormone controversy. Stories put a face on the issue that compels deeper thought. Reading this book might even spark a conversation with your neighbor or a willingness to listen to another perspective.
It’s available at your local library. I invite you to check it out.
