Lawrence Holtegaard obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Lawrence “Larry” Alfred Holtegaard, age 93, of Rochester, passed away at the Spring Valley Living surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

Lawrence was born on December 8, 1931, in Elba Township, the son of Alfred and Marion (Olson) Holtegaard. He attended school in Rushford and Chatfield and then entered the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, Larry worked on a farm north of Rochester, at Rochester and Marigold Dairies and then ended his working years as a route driver for Dison Dry Cleaners. Larry and Vera Lange were married on July 26, 1951 and they were blessed with three daughters. The couple later divorced. Larry was a member of the Chatfield American Legion and Chatfield Lutheran Church. He greatly enjoyed his hobby farm when his girls were young and loved a good garage sale or flea market.

Larry is survived by his children Peggy (David) Garcia of Colorado Springs, Colo., Debbie (Dallas) Finseth of Fountain, Minn., and Jackie (Dan) Siems of West Des Moines, Iowa; five grandchildren: Amy Finseth, Heather Finseth, Chad Finseth, Reed Siems and Regen Siems; and six great-grandchildren: Drew Tienter, Kennedy Ristau, Jezlyn Finseth, Jaidyn Finseth, Diem Finseth and JoElla Finseth. He is further survived by one sister, Evelyn Gehrking of Spring Valley, Minn., two brothers, Bernie (Deb) Holtegaard of Rochester and Richard (Barb) Holtegaard of Rochester; and one brother-in-law, Russell Olson of Twin Valley, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Madelyn, Margie and Donna; and one brother, Lyle.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Chatfield Lutheran Church in Chatfield, Minn., with Pastor Paul Hauschild officiating.

There will be an hour of visitation prior to services at the church.

Burial will take place at Chatfield Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Chatfield American Legion. A luncheon will follow at the church.

Hoff Funeral Home of Chatfield is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences and memories can be left for the family at www.hofffuneral.com.
