Larry N. Eaton, age 79, of Sumter, S.C., and previously Houston, Minn., passed away September 18, 2020. He was born June 8, 1941, to Henry and June Eaton, the oldest of seven children. He was a 1959 graduate of Houston High School. He married Carolyn Hargrove on March 8, 1964. They had four children and later divorced.
Larry worked for his dad in the plastering/stuccoing business during high school and until he was drafted into the Army. He served two years in Korea as a company clerk. On his return from service, he worked for his uncle Dwight Coulson in the plastering business in Dubuque, Iowa, then at Trane Company, La Crosse, Wis., and returned to Houston to work with his farther in the plastering business, which became his own. He loved to hunt, fish, bowl and play cards. He was a warm, funny, hardworking man, who loved his family.
On August 2, 1980, he married Rebecca Watters in Decorah, Iowa. They had a daughter, Autumn. They lived in Houston for over 20 years before moving to Sumter, S.C. in 2001.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca and daughter Autumn of Sumter, S.C., son Samuel (Tira Smith) Eaton, Aurora, Colo., brother Kenneth (Cheryl) Eaton, Houston, sisters: Judith (Jack) Horton, Rushford; Bonnie Bruss, Winona; and Mary Eaton, Houston; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sons Randall and Douglas, daughter Edwina, brother Michael Eaton, sister Connie Smith, brother-in-law Daniel Bruss, and a granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held October 2 at Sumter, S.C., and at Bethany Evangelical Free Church, Houston, Minn., on Friday, October 9, 2020, at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Money Creek Cemetery with military honors provided by the Houston American Legion.
