Larry M. Soland, age 73, of Houston, Minn., died on Saturday, May 29 at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis.
Larry was born on July 31, 1947, the son of Marven and Ivanelle (Livingood) Soland.
Larry was a member of the class of 1965 Canton High School, Canton, Minn. He worked as a distributor for the Coca-Cola Company, a heavy road construction worker for Fred Carlson Company of Decorah, Iowa, Houston County Highway Department, and most recently Money Creek Township as a maintainer.
This guy was a hard worker but knew how to have fun and live life. He always took great pride in his work. If you have a hand-crafted picnic table from Larry, consider it one of a kind and priceless! He enjoyed tractor and lawn mower pulls, fishing, hunting, playing the card game Euchre (but not losing). He loved to go out to places to eat and knew where you could find the best fish fry. He was a fascinating storyteller and jokester; raised a few eyebrows here and there we are sure. He was a lover of Fords and an avid Chicago Bears fan.
Larry will forever remain in the hearts of his wife Linda J. Soland; children, Dana Soland (Randy Sprung) of Riceville, Iowa, Melissa Hoppe of Brownsdale, Minn., and Kristi Davis (Jim) of Canton, Minn.; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; step-children Ed Herold of La Crosse, Wis., Mike (Teri) Herold of La Crosse, Wis., Sandi Herold-Bartle (David) of West Salem, Wis., and Traci Rundle of Mauston, Wis.; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; brothers, Roger Soland (Carol) of Hokah, Minn., Jeff Soland of La Crosse, Wis., and Brent Soland (Kristi) of Rochester, Minn.; sister, Linda Soland of Houston, Minn.; and many nieces, nephews, great- nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Marven (Steamer) Soland and Ivanelle Livingood Soland.
Per Larry’s request, there will be no services held. Friends and family are welcome to mail cards to Hoff Funeral Home, c/o Larry Soland Family at 710 E. Cedar, Houston, Minn. 55943.
