Larry Soiney Obituary - Fillmore County Journal

Larry D. Soiney, 79, of rural Canton died unexpectedly Monday, February 16 at his home.

Larry was born September 25, 1946, in Spring Grove to Elmer and Marguerite (Wilbur) Soiney. He graduated from the Canton High School in 1964. On November 27, 1965, he married Anna Norby at the Scheie Lutheran Church. The following day he left to serve in the United States Army where he would work with communications and was sent to Vietnam. After returning from the Army in 1968, he worked for Dick’s Electric and later Nelson Electric before starting a dairy herd in 1971. In 2004 he retired from the dairy, but continued to help on the farm.

Larry was a member of the Canton American Legion and enjoyed going for ATV and snowmobile rides.

He is survived by his wife Anna of Canton; children Todd (Amy) Soiney of Canton, Kris (Mike) Banse of Eitzen, and Troy (Trisha) Soiney of Mabel; grandchildren Kayla, Duke, Lincoln, Jenna, Kailey, Logan, Mason, Nicole, Kaylor, Kaiser and Kinley; a great-grandchild Tracen; and a sister Elaine Brookfield of Denver.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Mark.

A Celebration of Life will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 25 at the Canton Town Hall in Canton.  Private family burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston.

The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel is assisting with arrangements.
