The Lanesboro FFA Chapter has been busy with career development events, award applications and many fun activities for members. The chapter now boasts over 115 members who all enjoy the fun, friends and awards that FFA has to offer.
The year started with six members exhibiting at the Minnesota State Fair FFA Livestock Show. Soon members were busy competing in career development events including Livestock Evaluation, Dairy, Horse, Forestry, Soils, Meats, Poultry, Milk Products, Fish & Wildlife, Companion Animal Vet Science, BIG, and the Junior High Ag Challenge. Once again we hosted a Fish & Wildlife invitational and the regional Forestry and Soils contests, where our teams performed very well. Many contests still remain, including Farm Business Management, Nursery Landscape, Ag Mechanics, and Floriculture.
The annual fruit sale was a success, the members thank the community and Rushford Foods for their support. The members are looking forward to attending the state convention in April, where many CDE teams will be competing and Taylor Hanson will receive her state degree.. Other events the members are looking forward to are the annual banquet on March 31, FFA week activities, and Ag Day on May 7.
To celebrate FFA week, the members will have a coloring contest for the elementary students featuring coloring sheets designed by member William Miller, a staff breakfast, a student games, and Ag Olympics. It should be a fun week!
