The Lanesboro Economic Development Authority (EDA) would like to welcome Rebecca Charles, of Community Economic Development Associates (CEDA), as the new EDA Director for the City of Lanesboro. Rebecca was selected by the EDA Board from a number of candidates to fill this position. This role is designed to guide the City’s economic development. In this role Miss. Charles will work to plan, attract, promote and work to develop industry and commerce within the city to provide increased economic opportunity for the citizens of the community.
The EDA provides important guidance and assistance to the business community in Lanesboro. Though much of their work cannot be directly witnessed or is outwardly attributed to the group, the EDA is an important committee within the city government. The EDA also offers a wide range of services which can be utilized by local businesses. This includes a low interest loan program, tax abatement, business planning services, data collection, community education and more.
Rebecca began in her position at the start of September and will be working from the city clerk’s office on the first and third Thursday of each month. The EDA meets monthly on the first Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. Meetings are open to the public and are held in the city council chambers, located on the lower level of the city clerk’s office.
