The Lanesboro School community continues to make a strong investment in our youngest learners. Our school offers year round daycare for children six weeks old through school age. When The Lanesboro Child Care Center doors opened in 1988, it was the first of its kind in a school district in Minnesota. We know the value of childcare for our families is priceless. With fully qualified teaching staff, aide, and administration, the LCCC offers not only high-quality and affordable childcare, but a full educational experience that can help ensure your child will be ready for school. We continue to not only provide quality care within our center, but also the opportunity for our kids to access programming in the community such as open gym through PLAYY and Story Time with the Lanesboro Public Library. This summer we are excited to participate in the Lanesboro Public Library Reading Program and Story Time, Lanesboro Arts Open Studio, swimming at the community pool in Preston, and playing outside as much as we can! Most recently the Lanesboro Child Care Center received a grant for $3,000 from POET for a Little Learners Lab which will include a variety of materials to build science skills.
We are also extremely excited for our new daycare center, with our opening date planned for June 2020!
In addition to the Lanesboro Child Care Center, Lanesboro Schools also offers our weekly ECFE programming on Tuesday during the school-year from 9-10:30 a.m. and an evening gathering once every month. Teaching staff provides programming that can meet the needs of both children and their parents in each sessions, with plenty of opportunities for play and conversation. Lanesboro ECFE also organizes family several events each year, generally seasonally on Saturdays during the school year.
A key to our children’s school preparation here in Lanesboro is our preschool program taught by Lena Bergo. Lena brings the education and experience required to guide each child to fulfill their potential. Our 3/4-year-old preschool classes run two days each week and our 4/5-year-old classes run three days a week. Utilizing The Creative Curriculum, Hand Writing Without Tears, and other research-based instructional strategies, the preschool classroom at Lanesboro Schools is second to none. For all of our young child programming, Lanesboro offers the benefits of being housed in the same building. Not only does it provide convenience for our families but it allows our staff to work together, utilizing each other’s strengths to help our children grow.
As summer months begin to appear on our horizon, we are once again preparing for our popular Summer Recreation opportunities. The summer brochure will be mailed to residents in mid-May with most of the programs beginning just after school concludes in June. If you have any questions regarding any of our programs: ECFE, Child Care, Preschool, or Summer Recreation, please contact Lanesboro Schools at (507) 467-2229 or email us at office@lanesboro.k12.mn.us.
