October 3, 1959 – March 10, 2024
Kevin Jay Kallis, age 64, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Rochester West Nursing Home in Rochester, Minn. Kevin was born October 3, 1959, in Caledonia, Minn., to Rodney and Beverly (Holland) Kallis. He graduated from Mabel-Canton High School in 1978.
Kevin worked in construction most of his career. He worked for Roverud, Minnowa, and Fraser Construction until he lost his eyesight in 2005 due to lupus. He lived on a hobby farm outside Chatfield for many years where he enjoyed the outdoors and his horses. Kevin enjoyed spending time with his family, cheering for and cursing at the Minnesota Vikings, and listening to classic rock, westerns and shows he grew up watching.
Kevin is survived by his mother, Beverly, of Spring Grove; brothers and sisters Jeffrey (Cindy) of Rochester, Joni (Deb Groth) of Rochester, Mike of Caledonia, and Steve (Gina) of Terre Haute; seven nieces, four nephews, three great-nieces and three great-nephews; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father Rodney, brother Gordy, and grandparents Jay and Beulah Kallis, and James and Palma Holland.
Funeral services will be March 18, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Black Hammer. Pastor Leonard Liptack will officiate. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
