Kerry M. Scrabeck, 54, died on October 3, 2020, at his group home in Preston, Minn. Kerry was born on September 6, 1966, to Marvin and Marlys (Sorenson) Scrabeck of Preston, Minn. Kerry attended the MN School for the Blind in Faribault, Minn., from August 1976 until January, 1985. He then moved to the former Fillmore Place Group Home in Preston, Minn., where he lived until July 2014, when he was able to move into a Maple Leaf Group Home in Preston with his brother James Fossum. He enjoyed living with his brother until May 13 of this year when he became ill. His Maple Leaf family took such very good care of him through the years, and with them he was able to enjoy Camp Winnebago, outdoor activities, the Fillmore County DAC in Preston, shopping, and the fair. Kerry loved listening to music above all else, and you could usually find him relaxing in his favorite recliner listening to his music. A heartfelt thank you from Kerry’s family to the staff at Maple Leaf Services and the Fillmore County DAC for the special care they gave Kerry.
Kerry is survived by his brothers James Fossum and Kevin Scrabeck both of Preston, Minn., his sister Kim (Jerry) McCabe of Lanesboro, Minn., three nieces: Kayla McCabe of Chicago, Ill., Jessica (Mathew) Schnebly and Samantha (Caleb) Hareldson, all of Lanesboro, Minn., and nephew Terry McCabe of Rushford, Minn.; three great-nieces: Chloe and Cora Schnebly, Charlie Hareldson, and one great-nephew, Daxyn Hareldson.
He was proceded in death by his parents and a brother, Terry Scrabeck.
A graveside service and burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 10 at Greenfield Lutheran Cemetery in Harmony, Minn. Please direct any memorials to Maple Leaf Services in Preston, Minn. Lindstrom Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
