Kent Robert Pfremmer

October 22, 2026 by Fillmore County Journal Leave a Comment

October 16, 1939 – October 13, 2026

Kent Robert Pfremmer was born on October 16, 1939, in Lanesboro, Minnesota, to George and Marguerite. He spent his formative years with his mother and stepfather Arnold Kruegel in Preston, Minnesota.

As a young man, Kent enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard and later the United States Air Force, beginning a distinguished military career that would span 30 years. Through his dedication, leadership and commitment to serving his country, he achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, the highest enlisted ranks in the United States Air Force at the time. Afterwards, he continued to serve his country for another 10 years with the United States Post Office.

During his military service, Kent met the love of his life, Marjorie “Marge” Moodie of Vermont. Together, they built a life filled with love, family and adventure. They welcomed three sons: Robert, Donovan and Michael. Kent’s military career took the family to many different places, with frequent relocations and new experiences along the way.

Following his retirement from the Air Force, Kent and Marge settled into a life they loved, initially spending their summers in Park Rapids, Minnesota, and winters in Lakeland, Florida, until they moved full time to Lakeland. They enjoyed the friendships, communities and memories they made in both places.

A devoted member of his church, he found great joy and purpose in his faith and church community, whether calling bingo Monday nights, working in the kitchen, delivering sermons, or simply being present among his church family. Kent also enjoyed being Santa as part of Arianna Villages Christmas parade of lights and he was a member of the  “Lakeland Cruisers” car club, as well as many military associations, to include the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Forty and Eight, and the Air Force Gunners Association.

His steady nature, and devotion to the people and things he loved spoke volumes about the man he was. He demonstrated that a meaningful life is not measured by how loudly one speaks, but by the love, faith, and dedication one carries throughout it. He was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather. The generations that followed him were an important part of his life, and the memories made together will be cherished for years to come.

Kent was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marjorie “Marge” Pfremmer, his parents George and Marguerite Pfremmer, his stepfather Arnold Kruegel, his son Donovan “Wade” Pfremmer, and sister Barbara Dybvik.

He is survived by his sons Robert (Stacey) Pfremmer and Michael (Maria) Pfremmer, his daughter-in-law Ruth Ann Pfremmer, 12 grandchildren: Derek (Lynelle) Pfremmer, Tera (Jeremy) Castile, Brianna (Matt) Schmid, Caleb (Eli) Purdom, Samuel Pfremmer, Matthew Pfremmer, Donny Pfremmer, Savannah Pfremmer, Angelica Pfremmer, Allen Pfremmer, Maggie Pfremmer and Skyla Pfremmer; eight great-grandchildren: Cody and Brielle Pfremmer, Parker and Max Castile, and Liam, Autumn, Mala and London Schmid; Siblings Shelia (Bill) Johnson, Philip (Vicki) Kruegel, Jackie (Rich) Burmeister, Susan Kruegel, Gayle (Larry) Boraas, Lisa Stone and Candace (Paul) Larson; along with many nieces, nephews and their families.

Kent leaves behind a legacy of service to his country, community and love for his family. His 30 years of military service reflected his dedication to his country, while his involvement in his church guided his life. The impact he made on those around him will be remembered for generations.

A life faithfully lived, a country honorably served, and a family deeply loved.
