Kenneth Long obituary

Kenneth “Shorty” Rex Long, 83, of Spring Valley, died Sunday evening, October 17, 2021, at Our House in Austin, Minn.

Ken was born July 31, 1938, in Lyle, Minn., the son of Melvin and Leota (Bacon) Long. He married Judith (Rathbun) Long on April 23, 1960, in Chatfield. The couple made their home in Spring Valley, where Ken was a mechanic for Ziemetz Motors. Ken loved spending his time with his family and riding on his motorcycle.

He is survived by two daughters, Peggy (Mike) Mensing of Rochester and Debbie West (Darnell Williams) of Rochester; six grandchildren: Mike (Michelle) Lecy, Micky (Tony) Mincks, and Miranda (Logan Frye), Brandon VandeWeerd, Josh VandeWeerd and Caitlin (Ben) Provost; 10 great-grandchildren: Brooke, Isabelle, Dakarai, Amari Lecy, and Greyson, Asher Mincks, Aleigha, Vivian Frye, Nova, Lily Provost; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Judith, daughter Karen Bennerotte, his parents and several siblings.

Memorial services for Kenneth will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 25, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Spring Valley, MN with Pastor Joe Haynes officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 on Sunday, October 24 at Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley and will continue for 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
