Kenneth L. Gatliff

August 19, 2024 by Fillmore County Journal

Kenneth Ratliff obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Kenneth L. Gatliff passed into the loving arms of his savior on August 13, 2024.

Ken was born September 18, 1940, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Corliss and Statia (Myers) Gatliff. The oldest of seven children, he was a natural leader and was elected class president in high school. Ken graduated from Miami University, Miami, Ohio, and began his nearly 30-year career with Control Data Corporation, and later Computing Devices, a division of the Ceridian Corporation. His specialty was computer analysis, and he worked in such diverse locations as Boston, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Seattle, Carmel Valley, and Kwajalein, Marshall Islands. He married Mary Allwein and they later divorced. His final assignment was in Minneapolis, Minn., where he met his wife, Kathryn Kintzi. They married in 1994 and enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Israel. During retirement, Ken worked for a Minnesota gubernatorial campaign and later for Accenture Corporation.

A man of deep faith, Ken was an avid reader and enjoyed his fly-fishing trips to British Colombia with his friend Ken Behling. He was bright, competitive, and loved a challenging game of cards. A dog-lover and owner throughout his life, his Bichon Frises, Abby and Cody, will miss him dearly.

Ken is survived by Kathryn, his loving wife of 30 years; sisters Gail Zbinden, Norma Welch and Kathy Cunningham; brothers Gary and Carl, mother-in-law Lucille Kintzi, brother-in-law Gary Kintzi, sister-in-law Bev Gatliff, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and many dear friends, especially Jeff Lobland and his children, and Ammon Gingerich and his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Edward.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 24 at 11 a.m. at the Root River Community Church Harmony Campus, at the corner of 7th Street SW and Main Avenue South in Harmony, Minn.

Online condolences may be left at Hindtfuneralhomes.com.
