Kenneth Dale Kerns

July 2, 2024 by Fillmore County Journal 1 Comment

Kenneth Dale Kerns, of Byron, Minn., died June 1, 2024, at the age of 93.

Ken was born April 2, 1931, in Murdo, S. Dak. He enjoyed his many years of fishing and trucking, especially the team driving he did with his wife Lonna. His love of trucking was passed down to his boys, who still carry on the “family tradition.”

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lonna; sons Vernon and Jamie, daughters Vicky, Margaret, Patty and Donnis; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his grand fur-baby Vinnie.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Margaret, brothers Herbert, Richard, Daryl (Pete) and Duncan; sisters Kay and Silvia, and his special fur-buddy Toby.

A celebration of life will be held at the family home 837 4th Ave NE, Byron, Minn., on July 27 from 1-4 p.m.

Ken took his last truck ride home on June 20 with his son Jaime at the wheel and his wife Lonna by his side.

The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice and National Crematory Services for all their help and guidance. Also to daughter-in-law Tracie for her special care and love for “Grandpa.”

If you wish to send a memorial, please make it to St. Croix Hospice or the National Cancer Society.

As Kernsie would say, “Ma, we had a good ride.”
