Kay Howe obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Kay F. Howe, 85, of Rushford, Minn., died on Monday, December 7, 2020, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.

Kay Francis Peterson was born on March 19, 1935, at Gays Mills, Wis., to Clarence and Mille (Sprurier) Peterson.

Kay was raised in rural Readstown, Wis. and was a 1952 graduate of Readstown High School. Kay met Allen Howe at the Avelon Dance Hall in La Crosse, Wis.

Kay and Allen were united in marriage on August 9, 1955. Kay worked along side her husband farming in the rural Rushford area for their entire career. Kay also worked at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford for over 20 years. She was a leader in the Norway Go-getters 4-H Club. Kay was a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years. She was also a Good Shepherd Nursing Home volunteer for many years. Kay was a member of the Highland Prairie Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Highland Prairie WELCA and was WELCA president. Kay loved spending time with her family and enjoyed traveling.

Kay is survived by her five children: Ellen (Thomas) Feine, Steven Howe, Richard (Sharon) Howe, David (Cindy) Howe, all of Rushford, and Kathy (Randy) Stafki of Preston, Minn.; sixteen grandchildren: Ryan Feine, Alison Jonsgaard, Josh Howe, Paula Howe, Andrew Howe, Eric (Angela) Howe, Casey (Jerri Ann) Howe, Gabriel (Jessica) Howe, Jamie (Jon) Wiley, Naomi (Brandon) Wiedeman, Nicole Howe, Guy (Carey) Soland, Steven (Darci) Soland, Brian (Jill) Soland, Nathan (Claire) Stafki, and Rachael Stafki; 17 great-grandchildren, a sister, Arlene Alexander; and by a sister-in-law, Madeline Jensen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and two brothers, Arlen Peterson and Roger Peterson.

There was an outdoor drive-through visitation on Thursday, December 10, at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Peterson, Minn.

A private family service followed.

The family prefers memorials directed to the Highland Prairie Sunday School.
